CPD/Interdisciplinary courses

CPD courses for Sports & Remedial Massage Therapists

A wide range of further learning courses and workshops are available to Sports Massage/Sports & Remedial Massage practitioners once qualified. These are commonly known as ‘Continued Professional Development’, or ‘CPD’ courses.

As in most other healthcare professions, ISRM-accredited practitioners are required to complete a minimum number of CPD hours per annum. For further details about these requirements, please visit the ISRM website.

It should be noted that not all CPD courses ‘out there’ are ISRM- (or even SMA-) accredited. It is therefore advisable to check the level and accreditation status of any CPD course before enrolling on it. All courses specifically listed on this (tmb-src.co.uk) website are ISRM-accredited.

Each ISRM-accredited SRM School currently organises its own CPD programme. For further details, please contact the relevant School as indicated above.

The LSSM offers a wide range of CPD courses both in London and in Hampshire. The Hampshire-based programme is organised and largely tutored by myself, as senior Tutor and coordinator of the Southampton-based LSSM Diploma SRM course. Topics on offer include:

Inter-professional / inter-disciplinary CPD courses

Soft tissue technique workshops and other courses tailored to suit any interested manual therapists, sports, musculo-skeletal, and/or other clinicians from diverse professional backgrounds are available, either as part of the above Hampshire-based CPD programme, or by mutual arrangement.

I have considerable experience in tutoring such inter-professional courses, either at my practice, or at a venue of the delegates’ choice, such as their own clinic, sports treatment room/rehab gym, etc. These multidisciplinary courses can also be tailored to sports/arts care professionals, from coaches, physical trainers/instructors, managers, to primary and complementary care practitioners with an interest in human performance. Her ongoing track record includes:

–  Specific soft tissue technique workshops for musculo-skeletal physiotherapy clinics, including Premiership Football Club physiotherapists, the Southern Branch of PhysioFirst (formerly the Organisation of Physiotherapists in Private Practice – OCPPP).

–  Post-Congress workshop on Fascial Release techniques for Systemic Sclerosis (SSc) patients at the 2009 Second International Fascia Congress, Amsterdam.

–  Presentations, including practical demonstrations, on the benefits of SRM to multidisciplinary audiences, including GP/medical social evenings, BASEM, competitions hosting national/international athletes and coaches, sports clubs, Rheumatology conferences, training camps/conferences, etc.
